Certification Courses

At times throughout the year, Northwest Tech offers courses leading to specific certifications and/or licenses. Times, dates, and locations of these certification courses will be announced as they become available.

Certification Courses available through Northwest Tech

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Course

The Certified Nurse Aide course is designed to train individuals to provide direct care to assist residents living in Kansas Adult Care Homes. The course will prepare students to take the certification examination to gain the Certified Nurse Aide Licensure.

Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Course

CMA courses provide students with basic training in medications and medication administration. The course will prepare students for employment in a long-term care facility while under the supervision of an LPN or RN.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Course

The purpose of this course is to prepare students to obtain a Kansas Commercial Driver’s License. The comprehensive course includes test preparation, simulator driving, and truck driving. After completing the course, students must gain actual licensure from the department of Motor Vehicles.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course

This program is designed for individuals interested in providing medical care to patients in the pre-hospital setting. It will provide participants with opportunities to gain information, skills, and attitudes necessary for certification and practice as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Kansas and National Registry of EMT’s.


CT 138 Network+

The goal of this course is to provide an introduction to networking technologies.  This course covers a wide range of material about networking, from careers in networking to local area networks, wide area networks, protocols, topologies, transmission media, Wireless Technologies and security.  It not only introduces a variety of concepts, but also discusses in-depth the most significant aspects of networking, such as TCP/IP protocol suite.  In addition to explaining concepts, the course uses a multitude of real world examples of networking issues from a professional’s standpoint, making it a practical preparation for the real world.


Spring Semester CT 140 Computer Networking

This course focuses on the design and implementation of computer technology in the world today. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the makeup and design of personal PCs, the evolution of hardware from early PCs to leading edge devices, the components that makeup the computer, connectivity devices and peripherals, basic network and connectivity to the world wide web, Operating system installation and troubleshooting, Error recovery and general hardware failure analysis, and securing and protecting assets using software and hardware. 
Upon conclusion of this course a student will be able to set for the CompTIA A+  certification.  This certification validates understanding of the most common hardware and software technologies in business and certifies the skills necessary to support complex IT infrastructures. CompTIA A+ is a powerful credential that helps IT professionals worldwide ignite their IT career.
